Local Athletes Return Home after Training in Taiwan

Six members of Kamloops Canoe and Kayak Club’s High Performance Team have returned home after a grueling 3-week training camp in Taiwan. The late March training camp allowed an early start to on water training while preparing for a chance to represent Team BC at the Canada Games this summer. The team stayed and trained at the center for the Taiwan National Sprint Canoe and Dragon Boat teams. KCKC’s Head Coach Stanislav Marek organized the training camp. Before coming to Kamloops Marek was Coach at the Taiwan center leading their national teams to several world titles in Dragon Boat and placements on the podium for Sprint Canoe/Kayak at the Asian Games. After training for 6 hours a day and logging more than 400Kms on the water in Taiwan he hopes to see the KCKC squad post solid performances at the Team BC / Canada Games Trials on May 27th.
